Before the modern convenience of sanitary disposables, women used cuttings of folded cloth to absorb menstrual flow during their period. They are also making a comeback nowadays, but still very new to Cyprus. Although menstrual cups may appear to be a new invention, they were actually patented in 1932 by a group of midwives (around the same time as commercial tampons were introduced). So why aren’t they famous in Cyprus yet???
Well, it all comes down to money!!!! Pads and tampons are still in production because the manufacturers ensure that they will always have repeated purchases by customers. For them repeat purchases equals huge amounts of profits and thus the production still takes place. People are demanding and buying tampons and sanitary products worldwide.
They don’t want people to find out the awesome news regarding Menstrual cups that can be used over and over again… and you the consumer to save money.. No!!! they want you to keep on spending money.. so they make the big bucks… Part of their profits are used to fund massive advertising campaigns in order to get you the consumer to buy more and more of their products.
I want to introduce to you here the wonderful Menstrual Cup!!… Menstrual cups are a one off purchase that can last you for over 8 years if not more, but when it comes to manufacturers, they do not promote this wonderful good for the environment product, because they will not yield the same level profit as the common sanitary industry.
But you need to come to this awareness, that there are products out there that are healthy for your body and also the environment. Tampons and Sanitary Pads are a no no when it comes to the environment.
This is a Menstrual Cup… this Menstrual cup is very new to Cyprus, but it is a convenient, safe and eco-friendly alternative to tampons and sanitary pads. Forget your Always Pads and toxic tampons!!! You really need to get this.
Menstrual cups offer an end to the waste, discomfort and expense of disposable sanitary protection.
They are made of soft medical grade silicone, are latex-free and contain no dyes, BPA, toxins or bleaches. I love them because they are awesome for women with sensitive skin.
Did you know that tampons can cause dryness and leave fibers behind??
In addition, on average, one woman will use over 11,000 tampons or pads in their lifetime, which will end up in landfill or in the sea.
Minimizing waste means reducing pollution and this has a positive effect on you and the world around you.
170,000 plastic tampon applicators were found along US coastlines in a single year, and these will take around 500 years to break down. That is a lot of waste, for a long time. So lets try keep away from tampons and sanitary pads.
The cotton in tampons is often treated with pesticides, and the materials are bleached or perfumed. These chemicals can pollute the land and waterways where they end up, and are also unhealthy for your body.
Menstrual cups are worn, washed and reused – no daily disposal, no packaging and a much more positive impact on the environment. Switching from tampons or pads to menstrual cups also gives you some healthy body benefits.
Check out the Menstrual Cup and order online in Cyprus and be amazed.
Once you get a chance to use it, please do share your thoughts.
